Hitchin’s relegation fears confirmed as strong and fast Old Streetonians claim win
Hitchin’s relegation from London North West Three was confirmed after a 51-12 defeat at home to Old Streetonians.
They battled hard but were unable to match the strong and fast back line of the Londoners.
The visitors landed the first points of the day with a penalty but then Hitchin’s pack drove for 10 metres allowing James Bolter to break off and feed Will Evans for an unconverted score.
The lead didn’t last long though and by half-time Old Street were 27-5 ahead.
Hitchin started the second half brightly but were held up over the line and they continued to pressure the Street line even with a man advantage but without finding a way through.
A penalty and a converted try stretched the lead before Carwyn Morgan ran in for a try from loose play inside the final quarter.
But two tries against a tired and ineffective defence in the last 10 minutes finished the game off.
